Setting Up the Teacher Portal

  • Teacher Portal Features include: Setting up new student accounts; Track student progress; View student artwork.
  • Login to the Teacher Portal at https://portal.capitlearning.com/login
  • Assign a user for each student and one for the Teacher. 
  • Click Add Student. Fill in all the fields.
  • The User Name and Icon is the what the student will see whenever they enter their CAPIT Reading app.
  • Once you have entered the student’s information, click Add Student.
  • Now Press the Activate Student to activate your student's account.
  • After pressing the Activate Student button, the button will automatically disappear.
  • Repeat this process for each student.
  • click on Account. Change your password to ensure your student data is secure. 

Setting Up 1:1 iPads

  • Download from iTunes CAPIT Reading & CAPIT Books.
  • Open CAPIT Reading on the iPad and enter the Teacher’s email and password.
  • Click Log-In.
  • Select only the student you want to assign to this iPad.
  • Click Save. Click Close. 
  • Press the Blue Button to enter the App.
  • Click on the User and enter the App. Now the CAPIT Reading app is set up.
  • You can always contact us by clicking Contact Us in the Teacher Portal and entering the Code: 6930.
  • Now open the CAPIT Books app.
  • Enter the Code: 4217. Now the CAPIT Books app is set up.
  • Please do not share these codes with your students.
  • IMPORTANT: CAPIT Books does not back up the student data onto the Teacher Portal. Please do not delete CAPIT Books from the iPad as all student data will be lost.

Setting Up Shared iPads

  • Download from iTunes CAPIT Reading & CAPIT Books.
  • Open CAPIT Reading on the iPad and enter the Teacher’s email and password.
  • Click Log-In. 
  • Select only the students you want to assign to this iPad.
  • Click Save. Click Close. 
  • Press the Blue Button to enter the App.
  • Click on a User and enter the App. Now the CAPIT Reading app is set up.
  • After the session Teachers need to log-out in order to secure their student’s data.
  • To log-out of your account go to the Teacher Menu.
  • Click on the folder on the right-hand side of the email.
  • Click OK. CAPIT Reading is now ready to be used by another teacher.
  • IMPORTANT: Teachers log-in before each session and log-out after each session in order to secure their student data.
  • Now open the CAPIT Books app.
  • Enter the Code: 4217. Now the CAPIT Books app is set up.
  • Please do not share these codes with your students.
  • IMPORTANT: CAPIT Books does not back up the student data onto the Teacher Portal. Please do not delete CAPIT Books from the iPad as all student data will be lost.
  • To track student progress in CAPIT Books, use the CAPIT Books Tracker Document. It can be found HERE and Basecamp.

Backing-Up Student Progress

  • Student progress is automatically saved locally on the iPad, but internet connection is necessary for the progress to be backed up to the Teacher Portal.
  • Student’s iPad is not connected to the internet when you see an X on top of your student’s user icon.
  • Click on the student’s icon, then push the back button on the bottom left-hand side.
  • If the X is gone, the app has connected with the Teacher Portal.
  • If the X is still there, check your internet connection.

Getting to Know Basecamp

  • This is where we collaborate as a team and deliver our Teacher Support, Tech Support, and Additional Resources.
  • Basecamp can can be accessed from your computer, tablet, or phone.
  • The Chatroom is where we can all chat if we have a quick question, an announcement, or need some immediate troubleshooting.
  • Click Pings to contact people privately to help troubleshoot or share a good word.
  • Click Message Board to post more thoughtful questions and discussions. 
  • Click To-Dos to assign tasks to individuals.
  • Events is where we post all upcoming events.
  • Feedback is where we collect feedback to ensure we are creating the best product we can.
  • Downloadables is where we keep all of our additional resources that you can use in your classroom.
